Pretty in pink and white

It’s been ages since I’ve photographed a tiny new one, so I thoroughly enjoyed capturing the newness of this perfect little being today. She seriously had the most divine, creamy skin. Loved her strawberry blonde wisps of hair and her sweet temperament….*big sigh*. So gorgeous!

Keeping with tradition

Having your photo session at the family home has a number of advantages all round. As much as I love location shoots, a session at home means a) I get to have a cup of tea before we start; b) wardrobe options can be viewed and discussed over said cuppa; and c) the family pet gets to have a photo too. :). It has now become a bit of a tradition for me to grab a shot of any four legged friends who wander into the frame. Today’s delightful family had two pretty little cats, one of whom posed nicely for me (the other one was too quick, lol).

Today was all about this little fellow though. Nineteen months and cute as a button with a very, very intense gaze!

Sunshine and flowers…

…made for a delightful, colourful session yesterday. It was a teeny bit hot for my liking but after a while a delicious breeze came along to cool things down a bit. I’ve been spoilt lately with good-looking families to photograph, and yesterday’s session was no exception!

Lucky stars

This is Lucky:

family-and-pet-photography-melbourne_01

And this is Lucky’s family:

family-and-pet-photography-melbourne_02

Aren’t they a fabulous looking family? And just between you and me, I’m quite pleased with my shot of Lucky above…I *think* I captured a good expression although I’m not entirely sure whether he’s smiling or just panting. :) We were so ‘lucky’ with the weather - it was perfect. We were also second time lucky with the shoot - the first session having been cancelled due to an unfortunate stick in the eye incident…long story. :)

An outing to town

It was a day of rides for my boys today. We took the train into the city. Such a hoot for the boys. Once in town, we enjoyed a spot of lunch at Federation Square followed by a ride on the ferris wheel, carousel, and bungee trampolines. How much fun can two little boys have in one day - phew! They were exhausted and so was I, but very pleased with my photos from the outing.

Timmy was a wee bit nervous in the ferris wheel, especially when we were up top. But he put on a brave face. :)

Alex on the other hand, loved it! And I loved the light in there. :)

Then it was off to bounce around on the bungee trampoline. I was pretty keen to have a go myself but the cool photo opportunities from the ground won out.

Project Clean-up!

I’m a firm believer that best time to do a Spring clean is in the middle of Summer. Perhaps because I finally have a bit of time to dedicate to organising my terribly disorganised house! Post-Christmas, those wonderful holiday days of no schedule, no need to rush in the mornings, not drowning in emails and phone-calls for a change…ah…bliss, and the best time to attack!

So we’ve made great use of the time. Every room in the house has been given a thorough going-over. Even the cubby house (completely trashed! what on earth the kids were doing in there I’ve no idea. And where did all that sand come from??). We’ve stripped the main bedroom and are in the process of repainting it. I’ve made a huge dent in my enormous pile of laundry, averaging four washing loads every day for the last week (wow. I didn’t realise I had so many tea-towels). We’ve re-discovered and thrown out a gazillion bits of useless junk, consigned kerbside to await the council junk collection next week. So therapeutic!

I’ve also had a lovely time going through photos of my boys, downloaded but barely looked at until now, and picking out some gems from the last little while to share. My camera has not been gathering dust though, I’ve been snapping away as usual - we had a beautiful wedding to photograph just after Christmas, and I also took some photos of a friends’ adorable one year old twins a few days ago…here they are, the little munchkins!

Alex finished his prep year at school and loved it. I’m still getting a kick out of seeing him read books now!

Of course, there are other important little boy things to do, such as playing Uno Attack and dreaming. :) Melbourne-artistic-family-photography_-12

Bright

Today really did not feel like work, out and about on a bright warm summers’ day taking photos of this delightful young fellow. He’s going to be a heart-breaker with that piercing green-eyed gaze, and so bright and clever. Such a pleasure!

Grandma’s Christmas present

It’s so easy to know what to get Grandma for Christmas. Photos of her two little grandsons are guaranteed to bring a huge smile to her face. :) At the same time I took some snaps of my best friend Judy’s kids. They were much more cooperative than my two little rascals I have to admit!

Goodbye, Tree House Creche!

A rather sentimental post today (sob sob)…my little boy is growing up! This was his last ever week at daycare, which is not officially called the ‘Tree House Creche’ but that’s what we call it. (Yep, it’s got a tree house! Possibly not the most imaginative name for it but heck, I named my cat ‘Fluffy’, so my boys have obviously inherited my penchant for apt descriptions :).

We’re really going to miss the creche. Things I loved about it:

- that my boys loved it and were so, so happy there, always (except sometimes at drop off but that’s completely normal!)

- that it really was like a ‘home away from home’. It has been a huge part of our lives, for two days a week for the last three years.

- Super Sally!! (Chief Carer) Oh we’re going to miss this wonderful lady who loves each little boy and girl and baby as though they were her own!

- Cookie…I’m pretty sure Tim still would not have eaten broccoli to this day if not for Cookie’s yummy and delicious lunches! Not to mention her spectacularly delicious take-home meals…I still have a freezer full of them as I’ve been madly stockpiling them. :)

Alex has been at school this past year so it’s just been Timmy at creche, but he comes along at pick up and gets his fix of Sally hugs. I brought my camera along this week to capture a few memories of our home away from home.

Something different

I love shooting at night time. Love the challenge of shooting in low ambient light and I love the look of out of focus highlights in the background. Dreamy and surreal. Lars (hubby) and I went to a Christmas function at Federation Square last night and after too many drinks and nibbles and socialising, took the opportunity to have a little shoot together. Bliss!

Isn’t this amazing? The Atrium dressed up all Aussie-like, with big sun umbrellas suspended from the ceiling.

These next three are actually photos of a metal wall with Lars’s reflection in it. I love the foggy, grainy look to these shots!
